It can be difficult finding the Best Electric Guitars for Beginners. But don’t worry, I am here to help. I have compiled a list of what I feel are the best beginner electric guitars you should consider buying.

Albeit, this list could’ve included 20+ models, but I don’t want to confuse you.

Learning to play electric guitar is an exciting time.

You may have started with acoustic first and are now upgrading to electric.

Maybe you said screw the acoustic, and decided to go straight for electric.

So, I have limited my best electric guitars for beginners list to 6.

Of these 6 guitars, one should work well for you and fit your guitar needs.

Best Electric Guitars For Beginners

Epiphone SG-Special (Instrumental Global Top Pick)

No products found.

The Epiphone SG Special is an incredible electric guitar for a beginner. You are getting a real SG tone and without spending ridiculous amounts of money.

The styling for this guitar is amazing, the real iconic rock star look. The SG models are extremely popular and are among to best sellers on the market.

The SG Special is one of the best beginner electric guitars, hands down. Well worth a look. Especially when you can pick it up for less than $180 on most online stores.

Yamaha Pacifica Series PAC112V Sonic Blue – (Best Value)

No products found.

We’ve all heard of Yamaha.

They can make some pretty amazing guitars and the PAC112V is one of the best electric guitars for beginners.

It’s very reasonably priced and a great entry-level electric guitar.

The guitar itself is nicely made with Agathis wood for the body and maple for the neck.

The pick up sounds great in this guitar. It feels nice to play.

One thing I didn’t like about it is that it sounds a little flat.

Maybe with a more expensive and better quality amp, it can sound better.

But, what I like about this guitar is the look.

It’s a little different.

It steers away from your standard black finish guitars. the light sonic blue is a little more subtle and classy that just looks the part.

Epiphone Les Paul 100 (My Personal Favorite)

No products found.

If you are looking for one of the best electric guitars for beginners, well this could be the one for you.

Without a doubt one of the most popular over the years that has been an entry-level guitar for beginners and made them Epiphone fans for life.

The Les Paul 100 (Amazon SP) has the classic Les Paul style with its mahogany neck and body with a maple top.

The LP 100 is quiet lightweight and a little slim. This is a beautiful looking guitar.

The tone of the LP 100 is nice and perfect if you are a fan of mid-level range tones.

It’s pretty loud, so if you are into hard rock, this could be the one for you.

If you like subtle low sounds then maybe look else.

It is a little more on the costly side around $500.

But it boasts the Epiphone Les Paul badge which might not appeal to you as a beginner but will speak to enthusiast guitarists and musicians.

If you are serious about learning the guitar, this could be a great choice. It shows you are take pride in your equipment.

Fender Player Telecaster HH Electric Guitar

No products found.

The Fender Player Telecaster Electric Guitar is one of the best entry-level electric guitars you can buy.

Fender has always been well known at making excellent beginner-friendly electric guitars.

Although this is called the “Modern Player”, it has a classic twist to the design with its vintage style saddle 6 strings.

This is a quality made guitar.

The body is made from Mahogany and the C Shaped neck is like is bolted on maple.

A little more on the expensive side for beginners hitting close to $500, but a high-quality guitar nonetheless.

To get the best from this guitar you need a decent setup.

Squier Classic Vibe Telecaster

No products found.

Squier’s Classic Vibe Telecaster is one of the best looking guitars out there.

The vintage blonde finish is just amazing. This guitar really has a high-quality look, sound and feel for an entry-level price.

The body is made from high-quality pine which is lightweight.

The modern shaped C neck is made with a 1 piece maple neck.

This guitar is lots of fun to play.

You just can’t help but enjoy yourself when holding this guitar.

What’s even better is the reasonable price.

You can find this online for just shy of $400. Which really isn’t bad considering the quality.

I love the vintage style tone you get.

The fret-board is so responsive offering smooth playing that’s just a joy to use.

Ibanez RG450DX RG Starlight Blue

No products found.

There’s loads of beginner electric guitars out there, but this one really stands out to me.

It just seems to all fit together as a beginner electric guitar.

I just love the blue finish.

I mentioned the Yamaha PAC112V earlier and how I liked it’s subtle color and finish.

Well, I like the opposite of this one.

The blue finish is a little loud and bold.

It’s just beautiful to look at.

Some guitars just grab your attention before you ever pick one up to try.

For me, this is the case with the Ibanez RG450DX.

The traditional Ibanez shape paired with quality sound and speed makes this one of the best electric guitars for beginners.

The pickup sounds good, and with 5 options allows plenty of diversity and playing styles.

It’s easy to tune and just does its job.

A brilliant entry-level guitar for around $400 you should consider purchasing.

How To Buy An Electric Guitar As A Beginner?

What guitar should I buy as a beginner? The best advice I can tell you is to keep it simple.

Like I said at the beginning of this post, I could’ve mentioned at least 20+ guitars that would be worth buying.

However, all I would succeed in doing is give you more options and confuse you.

I wanted to make this post as simple as possible for you.

So I limited my recommendations to 6 of the best beginner electric guitars for beginners (in my opinion).

I think these 6 guitars give you enough options to choose from.

Once you find the right guitar for you, you need to go out there and buy it.

I personally like buying online, as I think you can get better pricing online nowadays.

With quick shipping and in many cases FREE shipping it’s so easy to buy guitars online.

The majority of online stores offer long warranty periods so know you are confident your purchase is well covered.

For example, Thomann USA offers a 3-year warranty.

How Much Does A Good Electric Guitar Cost?

Well, good can mean a lot of things depending on what level of guitar player you are.

But, if you are a beginner, I can assume you are wondering how much a beginner electric guitar costs.

If you want to buy an electric guitar for less than $100, you can.

However, I would not recommend it.

Why?

Well in most cases they are cheaply made, poor quality, and sound terrible.

I would set a budget.

Only spend what you can afford, but this is an investment, so don’t be too cheap.

The guitars I listed vary in prices between $180 – $500.

I would not go over the $500 mark.

$500 is more than enough for some of the best beginners electric guitars out there.

A $500 electric guitar will last you several years. Find one that fits your budget.

Do I Need To Buy An Amp With An Electric Guitar?

Technically no, you don’t need to, but you should.

Why?

Well, you won’t get the same quality of sound when playing without one.

Small guitar amps are relatively cheap. You can pick up a good one for less than $60.

If you are buying one, I would do this.

You might as well do it right if you are doing it at all.

And let’s be honest, you’re opting for an electric guitar for that electric sound, right?

Otherwise, you’d be buying an acoustic guitar.

I Recommend the Fender Frontman 10G.

How Do You Learn To Play Electric Guitar?

You have a few options to learn the electric guitar.

You can try to get one to one lessons, teach yourself, or but what I recommend is an online guitar course.

The reason why I prefer online courses over one to one lessons is the costs and speed you can learn.

Because a one to one lessons can be expensive and stack up quickly.

A lesson can set you back around $50 a lesson.

That $500 from ten lessons can be used to buy a better electric guitar.

You also need the teacher with you in the beginning to learn.

It’s hard to move forward in the beginning without them present. Whereas online courses are relatively low priced.

You can follow their courses and quickly and often as you like.

You don’t need to wait until next weeks lesson.

So if you wanted to jam out to 8 hours of guitars lessons on a Saturday, you can.

And it won’t cost you any more.

Online guitar courses are the best and most inexpensive ways to learn to play electric guitar (in my opinion).

They offer an extensive amount of training videos that can help you learn quickly.

Better yet you can get step by step tutorials to learn your favorite songs.

There’s a 2-week free trial you can check out here to try it free of charge.

But if that one is not for you, I also reviewed a couple of other online guitar programs.

I discuss what they do, how they teach you to play guitar, compare them, and offer some insights.

How Long Will It Take To Learn Electric Guitar?

It depends on how much time you put into it.

If you get one to one lessons or an online course, you should pick it up quickly enough.

If you dedicate enough time you will be surprised how quickly your skills will improve.

But, I do recommend you try out Guitar Tricks and dedicate 30 mins a day for a couple of months.

You will surprise yourself how good you will become with the right mindset.
